They say that getting there is half the fun. But with skiing, all the fun is usually on the mountain, with getting to the ski resort from London just a stressful and tiresome hassle. But imagine a rail journey that is pure joy, with personal pampering all the way: Savour premium first-class service with three-course meals and wine from both London to Paris and Paris to Zurich. Relax with VIP transfer service in Paris with your private guide and chauffeur, and pre-departure cocktail at Gare de Lyon’s legendary Le Train Bleu. Spend Friday night at a four-star hotel in Zurich, then continue the short distance to St Anton in premium first-class on a RailJet service, and arrive at your perfectly located St Anton hotel around nine o’clock Saturday morning. You have eight full days of skiing before you return to London in the same sumptuous manner, arriving home Sunday afternoon. This is not just the most enjoyable journey ever to and from the Alps – you also gain two extra days of skiing.

Champagne Powder

Next Winter, make your run from London to the Alps as perfect as Champagne Powder

It is nine o’clock on a Saturday morning and the ski lifts are just whirling into action as you arrive at St Anton am Arlberg. Most of your fellow ski-vacationers will only arrive late this afternoon. By then, you will already have enjoyed a great day on the slopes. And you arrive at the slopes perfectly rested: You have had a luxurious and relaxed journey from London to Switzerland the day before. Enjoyed a good night’s sleep at a four-star boutique hotel. In the morning, you changed into your ski outfit, and savoured a beautiful two-hour train ride alongside Lake Zurich and through the Arlberg Pass, while enjoying a breakfast served at your seat by your steward.

On next Saturday, when other skiers pack their boots and leave St Anton so early that any last skiing is usually out of the question, you have the mountains at your disposal the whole day. Only when the sun is setting behind the Valluga will you finally hand in your skis and descend to the valley.

Enjoy two more
days of skiing
in one week

____________________________

That is eight days of skiing in one week. 33 percent more winter bliss than the usual ski vacation if you want to be mathematical about it. And the magical key to gaining two extra days on the slopes is arriving at the mountains more leisurely and comfortably than you would have thought possible. Instead of a long and eminently forgettable travel day of security lines and crowds, Silver Tray serves you a perfectly relaxed and luxurious day that embodies the romance of travel from a bygone era.

You depart from London Friday at lunchtime, travelling on Eurostar in Business Premiere. Celebrate the start of a great journey as your steward welcomes you with a glass of Champagne, followed by an excellent three-course lunch as the train approaches France. At Gare du Nord, your private Silver Tray guide awaits you at the platform and escorts you to a chauffeured car for the drive to Gare de Lyon. Here, your guide treats you to a cocktail at the bar at the legendary Le Train Bleu, before she bids you farewell in front of the Business Premiere car of your TGV Lyria high-speed train to Zurich.

The TGV Lyria offers a class of service above and beyond anything offered on the rest of the TGV network. Enjoy the comfort and service of the train’s premium first class, as you are served a three-course meal that is both inventive and delicate, crafted by a Michelin-star chef to combine Swiss and French culinary traditions. When you arrive at Zurich after a memorable three-hour journey, a private guide awaits right at the car to escort you to your four-star hotel. It is so early in the evening that a stroll beckons.

Next morning, the only thing between you and the slopes is the relaxed and scenic two-hour train ride to the Austrian Alps. One week later, the return trip to London is the same wonderful journey, with a full Saturday’s worth of skiing followed by a night in Zurich and a luxurious Sunday rail journey home. You arrive at St Pancras International Sunday afternoon.
